Kyma Earth Custom light-filtering roller shade for indoor use

Kyma Earth is a custom-made roller shade that lets in soft light. In Greek, Kyma means wave, and that's the shape we chose for the painted aluminum fascia, which closes off the window in one continuous curve. Its light-filtering fabric, Earth, comes in three earth tones, making the shade a good fit for bedrooms, living rooms and rooms facing the street.

  • Controlled light, no view in from outside: the fabric lets through 6% to 16% of visible light, depending on the color you choose.
  • Fascia and bottom rail in the same powder-coated aluminum alloy: solid metal, in six colors.
  • Textures taken from nature: stone, minerals and sand, on a dense light-filtering fabric. Order fabric samples.
  • Can be motorized: the motor recharges via USB-C and is controlled by remote or voice assistant.

Granite Grey is the darkest, alternating light and dark yarns that catch the light with an almost silvery sheen. Mineral Beige brings together multiple shades, just like minerals, while Dune Taupe stays in the straw tones of sand.

It is a full Filter fabric: light comes through and in the evening silhouettes are visible. Each shade already contains multiple tones, so it works equally well in a room with warm colours or one with cool colours.

Do not place cots, beds or furniture near the roller shade: children could climb and reach the chain. Do not tie knots in the chain. Correctly install and use the safety devices supplied (chain tensioner and safety hooks), following the instructions. The chain tensioner must be fixed to the wall with slight tension. The chain must remain at least 59" from the floor.

Earth is the densest of our light-filtering fabrics: it lets through 6% to 16% of visible light depending on the color, so the room stays bright but feels cozier. It won't make the room dark: if that's what you need, take a look at the Blend Blackout and Canvas Blackout fabrics.

The size of the shade and how you choose to operate it. Our design service is free and helps you decide both.

The measuring guide covers the two typical cases, inside mount and outside mount, with the tolerances to follow.

Not during the day: when it's brighter outside than inside, people outside see the fabric, not the room. In the evening, with the lights on, it's the other way around and silhouettes show through. Under the EN 14501 standard, Earth rates 2 out of 4 for nighttime privacy.

Earth: 90% polyester and 10% cotton, 5.8 oz/yd² fabric weight and about 1/64" thick. It's the only fabric in the collection with a natural fiber in its blend.

It's the share of visible light that passes through the fabric, measured according to the EN 410 standard. It varies by color: Dune Taupe lets through 16%, Mineral Beige 14%, Granite Grey 6%. The darker the color, the less light comes in.
