Kyma Canvas Blackout Custom blackout roller shade for indoor use

Kyma Canvas Blackout is a custom-made roller shade that blocks light completely. In Greek, Kyma means wave, and that's the shape we chose for the painted aluminum fascia, which closes off the window in one continuous curve. Its blackout fabric, Canvas, has the regular weave of canvas, making the shade a good fit for bedrooms, kids' rooms and media rooms.

  • A completely dark room: Canvas Blackout fabric has 0% light transmission.
  • Fascia and bottom rail in the same powder-coated aluminum alloy: solid metal, in six colors.
  • Canvas-weave fabric: yarns in different shades of the same color, for a clean, even surface. Three colors, order fabric samples.
  • Can be motorized: the motor recharges via USB-C and is controlled by remote or voice assistant.

Our blackout fabrics are double-sided textiles. The front features a decorative face, where the Canvas weave combines yarns of different shades of the same colour, with the regularity of a painter's canvas.

On the back, we chose a white layer instead of black, because it reflects more heat coming through the glass, keeping the room cooler than a dark backing would.

What blocks the light is the combination of both layers, not the colour — which is why all five shades offer 0% light transmission.

WARNING – CHILD SAFETY: The chain poses a potential strangulation hazard for children. Keep the chain out of children's reach. Do not place cots, beds or furniture near the roller shade: children may climb and reach the chain. Do not knot the chain. Correctly install and use the safety devices included (chain tensioner and safety hooks), following the instructions. The chain tensioner must be fixed to the wall with slight tension. The chain must remain at least 59" from the floor.

The fabric has 0% light transmission: no light passes through it. A sliver of light may still come in at the sides, depending on how you install the shade: the wider the plate compared to the window opening, the less you'll see.

No. Canvas Blackout has 0% light transmission in every color: it's the structure of the fabric that blocks the light, so you get the same darkness whichever color you choose.
