Poles can be installed on concrete surfaces at least 4" thick, or on dedicated concrete footings measuring 24"x24"x24". This is a stable and permanent solution for gardens, courtyards, and pre-prepared outdoor areas.
You can install the poles using a collar mount or in the Inclined Balcony version—both ideal for patios and balconies. These options anchor securely to existing low walls, avoiding any invasive work on the structure.

Each Maanta shade sail pole includes the following accessories:
- A heavy-duty 3/8" thick (10 mm) thick steel ground base (or wall collars)
- A stainless steel Muscle Pole kit for anchoring and tensioning
- All necessary hardware and screws for assembly (excluding threaded rods for ground or wall anchoring)
The tensile strength of the sail. A shade sail—especially a large one—can exert a force of around 99–110 lbs. A proper anchoring system must withstand not only this constant tension, but also external factors like wind and rain. By contrast, many poles sold on popular marketplaces may be inexpensive, but they’re also weak. With just a few centimeters in diameter, it becomes nearly impossible to tension the sail properly. This compromises not only the outcome of your project, but also the safety of the entire structure.

Alu Simple, our premium heavy-duty aluminum pole, features two tracks for multi-sail anchoring. The Ulisse galvanized steel pole offers six anchor points. This allows you to create shade at any time of day—even when the sun is low on the horizon. And especially for waterproof shade sails, a proper tilt is essential to drain rainwater and provide protection from the elements!
The difference between the 75° and 90° poles is mainly aesthetic. However, it’s worth noting that a 75° inclined pole allows you to reclaim the space needed to tension the sail properly. This means a 75° pole lets the sail cover a larger area compared to a 90° pole, as it can be positioned closer to the base of the pole.
Wall-mounting a pole is only possible if there’s at least 12" of space between the two collars. Therefore, the wall or ledge where the pole will be installed must be at least 18"–20" high.
The highest resistance to salt air is offered by the Alu Simple powder-coated aluminum shade sail poles, a material that makes them immune to rust and marine elements. Also excellent is the EZ Mast in stainless steel, ideal for installations in coastal or particularly humid environments.
Alu Simple is available in three versions: with a 90° base, a 75° inclined base, or with wall-mount collars.
No, Maanta poles are available exclusively in standard sizes: 114" for Alu Simple and 108" for Ulisse. However, the Alu Simple model can be extended up to 153" using the Alu Simple Extension, which allows you to increase the pole's height for better sail inclination and improved water runoff management.
We strongly advise against this operation, but if you choose to proceed, we cannot guarantee the outcome. In particular, with galvanized poles, removing the protective zinc coating would compromise their resistance—leading to rust formation.

Yes, installation on patios and balconies is possible, but only with specific configurations. Wall collar poles can be mounted on a low wall at least 18" high, either inside or outside the terrace. Alternatively, the Inclined Balcony version (80° inclination) is ideal for balconies, terraces, or very low walls—it anchors to the balcony's front edge and allows you to optimize the sail’s positioning even in tight or complex spaces.
We do not recommend installing poles with ground bases on balconies, as this could damage the waterproof membrane and compromise the structural integrity of your home.
